The exhibition explores the link between personal narratives and cultural identity, inviting audiences to experience an artistic response to post-colonialism through a recontextualized, decolonized Philippines. Tiu-Laurel aims to decolonize shared historical experiences, bringing focus back to folk arts, lore, and spirituality through a contemporary lens.

“It serves as a platform for me to address imperial and generational trauma through art, promoting heritage and environmental conservation efforts,” said Tiu Laurel.

BAILE Foundation

A non-stock, non-profit organization of former members of the internationally acclaimed Bayanihan Philippine Dance Company. The foundation responds to the increasing need for “education through the arts,” providing scholarships and grants to individuals and organizations engaged in dance research or promoting Philippine dance as part of the educational program.

University of the Philippines Filipiñana, Kaisahan ng Lahi

The UP Filipiniana Dance Group is one of the most acclaimed cultural performing groups in the country, showcasing the Philippine’s rich cultural heritage both in local and international venues. Composed of students from the University of the Philippines-Diliman, the country’s premiere state university, the group performs a wide array of Philippine dances from the Cordillera region in the north to Muslim Mindanao in the south— and, in recent years, from works of contemporary choreographers.
